I woke up this morning thinking it would be a “just-get-through-it” kind of of day. Everything seems to be coming to a close within the next two weeks, and while that means there should be a rather restful time in the near future, it seems there are an equal number of projects on the horizon. So today, hot cup of coffee in hand, I used the time between daycare drop-off and the start of school to get myself in gear.
The first couple of hours passed uneventfully. Third hour got started with their opener and seemed a bit chattier than usual. I chalked it up to being Friday, and only a week away from Spring Break! As a few students began collecting papers, Mrs. Fish needed to borrow a few others for a couple of minutes. I wrapped up a quick email and as I was preparing to move to our next activity, those “helpers” came singing into the room. A chorus of “Happy Birthday” ensued complete with cupcakes, punch, and much to my surprise – a gift!
Way back in November, I had the kids put their Wish List into a Wordle. When I shared my example, they all thought it was pretty silly that I wanted things like towels, muffin pans, and especially the Ultimate Brownie Pan. That was the running joke for a while. I thought it was better than wanting a Snuggie. After all, I couldn’t share the joy of that gift with everyone.
Today, they revealed that they’d all chipped in, and got me an Ultimate Brownie Pan! I was SO excited. You know, I’ll be making up some yummy treats to take in soon!
Thank you so much for your kindness!! I’ve always known you were a pretty amazing group and today was further proof of that! Thanks too, to Mrs. Fish – I couldn’t imagine our class without you! I hope your kiddos feel better!!
