I remember the miniature bud vases that lined the eye-level windowsill in the downstairs bathroom, the Japanese Lanterns in the wall vases in the fall, and the fresh mistletoe hung over the guest room bed for our first Christmas in the U.P. Flowers have always graced my in-laws’ log home, and this most recent spring break pilgrimage is further proof.
A stark contrast to the still-winter scene just beyond the window, these purple petals are the promise of warmer days and charming change of the imminent spring season. I cling to the hope held here. I find myself feeling new and fresh, blossoms open wide to soak up the steadily increasing rays of sun, and offering everything I have within me to give.
I see, and know, and love these petals.
I pray this week, to take joy in the blossom and not worry over the unavoidable wilt.
Be sure to visit Two Writing Teachers for more Slice of Life Stories this week!

Enjoy your break, we all need time to rejuvenate the soul. The flower is beautiful.
I love the way you wove a simple tradition into meaning for you on your break & in the year ahead. The last line is an important reminder for all of us.
I love that flower of spring too and looks like I will be seeing you in May,
Bonnie
Blooms have a way of sparking us awake. We do need to hold on to the beauty of the moment.
May you “take joy in the blossom” all week! It’s good to see blossoms. I played outside today for about 3 hours!!!
