SOLSC ~ Coming Together

I sit, in wonder,
on the sidelines. I
watch him
spinning slow circles
on the field.
I cheer when he
chases the crowd
when foot finds
ball and he
looks my way.

I move throughout
the classroom and
watch them
making new choices
in their writing.
I smile when they
come together
when pen finds
paper and they
look my way.

For new readers, Tuesdays are a day when teachers across the country come together thanks to Two Writing Teachers and share what’s called a Slice of Life Story.ย  As the year continues, students too will be offered the chance to participate in Slice of Life Stories.ย  Interested in what others have to say?ย  Check them out! ๐Ÿ™‚

It is a joy to be able to just watch, to be there for the small successes. The like the repetition of “look my way.” It is as if that “look” is saying “I trust you and I know you have confidence in me.” Very powerful poem. ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the repetition too – and the image of “foot finds ball” and “pen finds paper.”
