Your review is pretty close to what I’ve heard about the books. Recently, we’ve been discussing these books for upper elementary students. What do you think? Are they for a 5th grader?

I am not in a hurry to see the movies having just finished the books but I am interested in seeing the content/violence element is played out. Seems like so many good opportunities for discussion.

I am looking forward to reading the first book over spring break next week, and from what I have heard, I will probably read all three of them! Your writing, first of all, I appreciated that there were no spoilers, and you still gave a review worthy of thought. I always wonder if it is even possible to feel the highs and lows in a movie after you have felt them in the book? I wonder if simply knowing what lies ahead ruins that extreme? I don’t know, but sometimes I give credit to that idea when I feel as you do here. I always wonder if I would feel differently if I saw the movie first, or never read the book at all… ???
