In the stillness
of the morning,
I felt the buzz
of my alarm
pulling me
from the darkness
of sleep.
Is it possible
the welcomed guest,
of night
is already
packing to leave?
After yesterday,
which was spent
chilled
to the core,
I long to stay
settled
in Comfort’s
warm
embrace.
This post was written as part of a monthly challenge sponsored by Two Writing Teachers, to encourage writing and community. The goal is to write a Slice of Life entry each day throughout the month of March.
To me this poem seems warm, cozy and in a safe place.
Your poem does not seem dark at all. I love the second stanza. Describing night as a welcomed guest speaks to a lot of people, especially teachers, because we usually cannot wait for nighttime. My bedtime has been getting earlier and earlier…sometimes I question whether it’s too early to go to bed because it is still light out!
I love this poem! I tried to write a poem, but it wasn’t nearly as good as this! It makes me feel warm inside!
Thanks, Taylor! I’m glad to hear that you tried a poem. I’ve definitely had my fair share that just didn’t quite work. The best part is that we keep working at this writing thing! Can’t wait to check out your post!
