Five years ago I attended the MACUL conference for the first time (https://amandacornwell.edublogs.org/2011/03/17/solsc-2011-1731/). My oldest was only 4 then, and I think I was in the super-short, no fuss, no muss hair phase of my life. I still remember how thankful I was that I stayed through the closing session, which was so inspiring.
This morning, now in the long hair is easy to throw into a top-knot phase of life, I couldn’t help but chuckle when the keynote speaker mentioned his ultra cool, new technology Google phone, and mentioned that THIS was our kids’ Commodore 64. This is the worst technology our kids will know.
His entire talk was centered on the idea of iterations, and in the field of technology, those changes seem to be more evident and visible. As I listen and learn and discover new ways of achieving and teaching and learning, I realize that once I embrace the change, and encourage students to do the same, that’s when the real transformation can take place.
Yes, embrace the change!
Embracing the change is half of the battle. If more people embraced change, they’d probably be happier and more productive as a result.
