It continues to be a whirlwind! The excitement of the city, uncertainty of exactly how tomorrow will unfold and the anticipation of the imminent start to the school year is all beginning to set in. To start the morning, I recorded a quick voiceover on my phone and sent it off to the producer. Thankfully, it worked well enough that Julie and I could continue our breakneck pace throughout the city! We started the day by hopping a train to South Ferry for a tour around Liberty Island. Afraid we’d miss the boat, I opted against coffee when she offered to get me some…but she was kind enough to share hers! I think I’m operating on only caffeine and adrenaline at this point, because sleep sure isn’t happening!

Getting a little artsy as we walked back uptown from the tip of Manhattan.
Rays of Hope – one of the three buildings that incorporates sunlight in their design. This one, I believe, is the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
Heading to NBC Studios for the style session and to talk through tomorrow’s segment! I wish I could say it’s unusual that I look so silly, but…
I finally got to meet Sandy! She’s the producer who I first spoke with about this segment!
Perhaps one of the sweetest people – the style guru Brittney was so kind and did such an amazing job of getting all the details of my outfit for the show set!
Following the style shoot, we popped over to the MoMa for a little modern art. Suffice it to say we must not be very cultural because some of the meaning was a little lost on us.
We had a great time nonetheless and left there to head further uptown to connect with fellow Portland teachers who also happened to be in the city this week!!
Cool panoramic shot from Top of the Rock!
Seeing as how I rarely take my camera out lately (who needs it with a phone in hand?) I found myself not only taking in all the city had to offer, but also so very excited to be creating again as I looked for interesting shots to capture as we walked around. The next two were the last ones of Monday night and are perhaps my favorite. I’m undecided as to whether I prefer the color or the black-and-white. They remind me of this shot that I love so much having snapped it on one of my professional development trips to Denver.
I suppose that’s all for tonight. I should try to get a little sleep before the BIG DAY tomorrow!
